The construction period took eight months, and Energie Ried was recently able to put what is currently the largest photovoltaic parking lot system in the Innviertel into operation. More than 120 Star Movie parking spaces in Tumeltsham have been covered with so-called photovoltaic carports, where around 530,000 kilowatt hours of green electricity are now produced each year. This corresponds to twice the electricity consumption of the cinema center or that of around 250 households. According to Energie Ried, this saves almost 170,000 kilograms of CO2 annually.
Friedrich Pöttinger, Managing Director of Energie Ried, sees the new plant as an “exemplary investment that makes a significant contribution to a secure energy future in the region.”
The resource-saving use of the already sealed asphalt surfaces of the cinema parking lot for energy production is also highlighted.
Investment of 900,000 euros
The PV carport system in Tumeltsham is the second project of this kind for Star Movie. There is a similarly large system at the cinema in Regau (Vöcklabruck district).
Over the past ten years, cinemas have been energy-optimized as much as possible with numerous other measures such as LED lighting, heat recovery, energy-saving film projectors and intelligent control systems. According to the company, energy consumption was reduced by a total of 26 percent. The total investment in the area of photovoltaics at the Star Movie location in Tumeltsham near Ried amounts to almost 900,000 euros – the sum of the roof photovoltaic system and PV carports.
