In 2017 and 2019, the Rieder carnival parade was revived by the rural youth. After a long break – partly due to the corona pandemic – the event will be held for the third time on Sunday, January 28th.
This year’s carnival parade is being carried out by the rural youth of the Ried district in collaboration with the Ried city marketing department. All rural youth local groups are involved in the organization, as Ried’s rural youth leader Tobias Trauner reports. “We are all pulling together to put together another great event. Our goal is to provide the best possible advertising for the city of Ried,” says Trauner. The carnival parade starts and ends at the exhibition center. Starts at 1:30 p.m. The route leads from the exhibition center via the Volksfeststrasse-Avia-Kreisverkehr exit, Friedrich-Thurner-Strasse, Bayrhammergasse and Stelzhamerplatz to the main square. The highlight of the event, the presentation of the cars, takes place there.
Defending champion Eberschwang
The Landjugend Eberschwang is starting as defending champions. After the presentation, the entourage moves back towards the exhibition grounds. The awards ceremony for the cars will take place there in the FIH Arena. Afterwards you will be invited to the after-show party. Ried’s regional youth chairman expects a total of 35 to 40 cars to take part in the parade. “It will be about the same number as our last move in 2019,” says Trauner.
Registrations from Germany
He is particularly pleased that there are already registrations from Germany. Numerous companies and regulars from the Innviertel have also registered. Registrations are possible at faschingsumzug-ried@gmx.at or 0650/2906624. If you don’t have a car, you can take part in the parade on foot. “Of course, groups on foot can also take part in the procession through the city,” reports Trauner. Your physical well-being is well taken care of. Spectators and participants can fortify themselves at numerous food stands, where farmer’s donuts, plum pancakes, liver dumplings or liver cheese rolls are on offer. The surrounding Rieder restaurateurs also take part in the carnival parade and are open.
