The leader explained to the press that in 2023, 350,000 tons of iron ore were mobilized, and that starting this year they will be mobilized from an area assigned to the ANP, near the Port of Nueva Palmira and the Port of Fray Bentos (Río Negro)the 3 million tons of iron ore from Brazil.
“For us it is very good news that it continues to be used and perceived by Uruguay as that country of services, as that port country,” said the head of the ANP. “It is the priority objective that we have to capture different types of cargo from the region,” he explained.
Curbelo stated that shipments of iron ore from the area assigned to the ANP will bring to the State “a significant amount that will impact the fiscal year 2024 and all the income that the ANP has”, many of which are reinvested in new works in the Uruguayan ports.
