Fire brigade, rescue, police, emergency doctor and rescue helicopter were in large-scale operation in the municipality of Eggelsberg (Braunau am Inn district) on Monday afternoon: At around 4:30 p.m. two vehicles collided head-on on the B156 near the town of Heimhausen. According to initial information, a 46-year-old Romanian citizen may have skidded in his car. He collided head-on with the car of a 51-year-old local man.
Any help came too late for the 46-year-old: he succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident, the police confirmed in response to OÖN’s request. The second person involved in the accident sustained serious injuries. He was treated by the emergency doctor and then taken to the UKH Salzburg.

The federal highway in the affected area had to be temporarily closed for the duration of the rescue work and the accident investigation, and there were disruptions to rush-hour traffic. The St. Georgen am Fillmannsbach and Eggelsbergs volunteer fire departments responded to the clean-up work.
