SPÖ health spokesman Philip Kucher spoke in a broadcast of a “continuation of the absurdity”: “After almost two years of pandemic, the haphazard stumbling and the patchwork carpet continues even under Nehammer. The reason for this lies in the deportation of responsibility by the federal government. A central crisis management including a comprehensible overall strategy is still missing. ” The MP pointed out that in the western federal states like in Tyrol, despite the significantly poorer corona numbers – “from the incidence to the utilization of hospital capacities” – less strict rules will apply than in the “model region” Vienna. “Nobody really understands that.”
“The virus is neither based on state election dates nor on ÖVP propaganda that claims to have mastered the pandemic. That the turquoise-green federal government has still not understood this is a real surprise,” said Kucher. He called for a comprehensible procedure based on uniform criteria for the whole of Austria.
NEOS: “illogical patchwork carpet”
The deputy NEOS club chairman Gerald Loacker argued in a similar way: “Who should understand that the federal states with the worst numbers open the most and the fastest, and where one has acted correctly and with foresight in the summer and is therefore best placed now? remains locked the longest? ” This “patchwork of measures” is “absolutely illogical”. The population no longer knows their way around and can no longer follow the decisions. “You only see that now it is no longer the Chancellor, but the Governors who have more to say than the experts, each and every one of them can do what he or she wants, regardless of whether it is sensible or not,” he said Loacker. And Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) has “finally and completely given up his responsibility for pandemic management”.
FPÖ calls for everything to be opened immediately
The Vienna FPÖ boss Nepp showed “zero understanding” especially for the course of Vienna’s mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ). Because while in Burgenland, Tyrol and Vorarlberg the gastronomy and hotel industry will open up next Sunday “and a little later Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Upper Austria will follow”, Vienna is “on the brakes”. “With this restrictive course of hostility towards business and business, Ludwig missed another blow in the pit of the stomach of all Viennese restaurateurs and hotel operators,” said Nepp, who called for all branches of business in Vienna to be opened up immediately.
