Last Saturday, a 36-year-old and a 33-year-old acquaintance, both from the Steyr-Land district, carried out forestry work in an impassable forest in Aschach an der Steyr.
The 36-year-old felled a tree with a chainsaw. This fell onto a tree that was already at an angle and tipped over it. As a result of the tilting movement, the 36-year-old was caught under the chest area by the end of the trunk and, according to the 33-year-old, was lifted about two meters into the air and then trapped underneath.
The 33-year-old immediately provided first aid and started the rescue chain. The 36-year-old was seriously injured and, after receiving first aid, was taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr by rescue helicopter.
