The torch is burning again, and there was already smoke: today around 2 p.m. a system failed in the OMV refinery in Burghausen. For safety reasons, other parts of the system were shut down and flares were used. The flare is part of the safety systems in the refinery for a controlled shutdown of the systems, which enables the safe combustion of excess gas quantities from the systems.
The company asks citizens for their understanding and emphasizes that the environment and people are and have not been endangered in any way. The responsible authorities and the surrounding communities have already been informed, the company said in a statement.
