The 21-year-old driver told officers that he wanted to buy a car in Bavaria, German police said on Wednesday. The police discovered almost 3.3 kilos of gold worth more than 197,000 euros in the glove compartment on Sunday in Neuhaus am Inn (Passau district).
The man was questioned by customs investigators that evening, said a federal police spokesman. After that he was allowed to continue driving. He is now being investigated on suspicion of money laundering.
