The Chancellor of Argentina, Diana Mondino, confirmed that country’s intention to close the agreement between the Mercosur and the European Union, after participating in a meeting with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, within the framework of World Economic Forum, that develops in Davos, Switzerland.

For his part, the European diplomat stated that at the meeting they “discussed the next steps to finalize the agreement” and confirmed that both remain “firmly committed to reaching the goal quickly.”
Brazil’s position becomes decisive

There will be a summit of foreign ministers in Paraguay
On the other hand, it emerged in the last few hours that a meeting of Mercosur foreign ministers will be held on January 23 and 24 in Paraguay, who exercises the presidency. There, “the deepening of integration mechanisms, agreements with the European Union and other markets” will be analyzed, among other things, as explained in a statement.
The Paraguayan Foreign Minister, Ruben Ramirez, admitted that that country seeks to “give a different dynamic to our integration process” and called for “revitalizing all the mechanisms” with the aim of the bloc “being a platform not only for much more regionally integrated trade, but also with a international and global projection”, something similar to the flexibility proposed by Lacalle Pou.
