Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that Princess Catherine – commonly known as Kate – had to undergo abdominal surgery. The palace emphasized that it was not cancer.

Details of the illness were not given. After a hospital stay of up to two weeks, Kate will continue to recover in Kensington Palace and will probably not attend public appointments again until after Easter.

Kate turned 42 on January 9th. She has three children with Prince William, the older son of the British King Charles III: ten-year-old George, eight-year-old Charlotte and five-year-old Louis. She is one of the most popular and most photographed members of the British royal family. She often appears alongside her husband William, but increasingly also has her own obligations as a representative of the royal family.
The news of the illness had caused great concern for fans of the Royals, especially since Charles III was also. will have to go to hospital next week because of a benign enlargement of the prostate.
