Shortly after entering the motorway in the municipality of Laakirchen, the man noticed heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment. He stopped the car on the hard shoulder and called 911. Five minutes later, flames were already coming from the engine compartment. The Laakirchen fire brigade and the Steyrermühl company fire brigade extinguished the fire. At around 8:15 p.m. the fire was put out.
