NEOS chairwoman Beate Meinl-Reisinger is also on the podium. The date will probably be about the agreement on the corresponding draft law, which is to be assessed at the end of this week.
Further details about the planned press conference at 1 p.m. have not yet been announced on Thursday morning. The Ministry of Health last said on Monday that the draft would be drawn up together with the Constitutional Ministry and with the involvement of the opposition parties SPÖ and NEOS. He should go into appraisal “during the week”. The SPÖ is not represented at the press conference in the Chancellery, but supports the draft, as the party said in the morning at the APA request.
Numerous details leaked
It is generally planned that the mandatory vaccination will come into force on February 1, 2022. Numerous details about the planned law were leaked at the beginning of the week, but they have not yet been confirmed by the Ministry of Health. According to a bill earlier this week by the APA, all unvaccinated people will receive mail from the Minister of Health on February 15, 2022 asking them to vaccinate. From March 15, the first sentences will be sent out by the district administrative authority. Those who refuse the vaccination can therefore be fined up to 600 euros. The money raised should flow into the hospitals. The use of compulsion to enforce the compulsory vaccination is explicitly excluded in this draft version.
The vaccination requirement therefore includes three stitches. People who become infected with Corona between vaccinations do not have to have the follow-up vaccination until after 180 days. The compulsory vaccination should apply to 7.7 million people aged 14 and over who are resident in Austria. Most of them have already been vaccinated at least once – 1.4 million but not yet.
According to this draft, several groups are to be exempted from the mandatory vaccination: In addition to children under 14, pregnant women and those people who are not allowed to be vaccinated for medical reasons, as well as those who have recovered up to six months after the infection.
