By 8 a.m., the Upper Austrian fire brigade had to be deployed for almost a dozen missions. In most cases, the volunteers had to deal with traffic accidents. Injuries have so far been reported from Pasching and Schiedlberg near Steyr. In both cases, people had to be rescued from the vehicle.
An emergency doctor was also on duty in Schiedlberg. According to initial information, a van there skidded on the Schiedlbergerstrasse or Neuhofenstrasse and collided with a truck. The truck driver landed in an adjacent meadow and the van was badly damaged. The handlebar was locked in the vehicle, but luckily it wasn’t jammed. He was seriously injured in the accident and after receiving first aid from a doctor he was admitted to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr.
Fortunately, most of the accidents took place, many of which were not reported to the fire brigade because they were only sheet metal damage, which was easy for those affected. But across the country Thursday mornings still have to expect disabilities from broken-down vehicles, for example on the B38, the Böhmerwaldstraße.
In the afternoon, the snowfall should subside and the situation on the streets should then relax again at the latest.
