“The forecast assumes that the downward trend in the number of cases will continue. With a corresponding delay, a decline in the number of cases in the intensive care units can therefore be expected, ”says the paper of the Covid forecasting consortium, which was drawn up on Tuesday and will be presented today, Thursday. The consortium forecasts the corona developments every week on behalf of the Ministry of Health.
For Upper Austria, the researchers assume that the seven-day incidence will drop to 206 by December 15 (fluctuation range between 165 and 272). The incidence is currently around 530. The consortium expects a slow decline in the number of corona intensive care patients. According to the forecast, 68 intensive care beds will be occupied on December 22nd (fluctuation range from 53 to 87). There are currently 111.
Nationwide, 435 corona intensive care patients are expected shortly before Christmas (fluctuation range 357 to 530). According to the consortium, the decline in the surface area in intensive care and normal wards “continues to be at a partially system-critical high level of utilization”.
As reported, Upper Austria will remain in a tough lockdown for five days longer than other federal states next week. Deputy Governor Christine Haberlander (VP) warns of “careless opening steps that jeopardize what has been achieved so far”.
