The man from the Rohrbach district drove his car on Böhmerwaldstraße (B38) towards Bad Leonfelden around 3:45 a.m. In Helfenberg, the driver lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason in a right-hand bend near Preßleithen. The car hit an embankment, overturned and landed on its roof. The Helfenberg and Piberschlag fire departments were alerted to the scene of the accident on the municipal border with St. Stefan.
Initial fears that the driver was trapped in the vehicle were not confirmed: the 38-year-old was able to free himself from the car before the emergency services arrived. The injured person was treated by an emergency doctor and the Helfenberg Red Cross and then taken to a hospital. An alcohol test was negative.
The firefighters secured and cleaned the scene of the accident and put the accident car back on its wheels using a cable winch. During the one and a half hour operation, the B38 was temporarily closed or traffic was diverted in alternate directions.
