Palestine hopes to hold a ministerial meeting of the Middle East Quartet by the end of the year. The Ambassador of Palestine to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
“President Mahmoud Abbas at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin noted that we are interested in holding a Quartet meeting at the level of foreign ministers in order to start a new stage of the dialogue. There is no clear date yet, but we would like to hold a meeting of the Quartet before the end of this year, “the diplomat emphasized.
He also noted that next week Palestine is expecting a visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to the region. The upcoming meeting of the Quartet will also be on the agenda, the ambassador specified.
The last meeting of the Quartet took place in mid-November in Oslo at the level of special envoys.
