NEUKIRCHEN ON THE ENKNACH. On Sunday another dangerous bait was found in Neukirchen an der Enknach. A dog spat out a cartridge wrapped in a crackling sausage. It is the third year in a row that such finds have been reported to the community. “Strangely enough, always at this time of year,” says Johann Prillhofer, SP mayor of Neukirchen. “There is a madman on the way, I just don’t know what’s going on in these people,” says Prillhofer, audibly annoyed. This time the bait was found between Kirchweg and Stockhofen. “Many in the community like to go for a walk there, including dog owners,” says Prillhofer.
Already in 2019 two cats died in Neukirchen and the neighboring municipality of Handenberg, two dogs could be rescued at the last moment, the OÖNachrichten reported. A short time later another dog was poisoned in Neukirchen and died. “Last year a dog died of bait, presumably it was enriched with rat poison,” says Prillhofer. The anger in the community is great, Prillhofer has received many calls since Sunday. “I can only call on all dog owners in Neukirchen to be careful,” says the local chief. It is difficult to take action against the perpetrator (s). Prillhofer assume that it was a night and fog action. “In theory, someone could have thrown that out of the window while the car was moving. It’s hard to track that, ”he says. The police are aware of the case, “unfortunately this happens again and again”, says district police commander Martin Pumberger. According to the police in Mauerkirchen, a report should always be filed if poison bait is found.
