His wife raised the alarm yesterday. The 78-year-old from the Urfahr-Raum district was walking around Lake Plesching with her 86-year-old husband. When he got tired, he wanted to return to the parked car alone, but apparently never got there. When his wife didn’t find him there, she called the emergency services. That was around 4:30 p.m.

Search operation with dogs and helicopter
But a local search by several police patrols was unable to find the man, which is why additional emergency services were called in to provide support because it was getting increasingly colder and darker. Finally, the police, several fire departments, rescue search dogs and a police helicopter searched for the missing person and searched the area extensively.
On foot in Dornach
Finally, at around 6:25 p.m., the 86-year-old was found on foot in Dornach by a vigilant police officer who was relieved in the operational area and was already on her way back to her office. The Urfahran was in good health and was returned to his wife unharmed.
