The man fell six meters into the depths with a hydraulic work platform that had come loose from the tractor’s holding device, the police said on Sunday.
The 73-year-old old farmer drove the tractor into the forest with his 21-year-old nephew around 8:15 a.m. He had previously mounted the hydraulic work platform on the tractor’s hitch. The nephew parked the tractor and raised the work platform with his uncle. A shift in the center of gravity probably caused the work platform and tractor to tilt, according to the police report. The 73-year-old fell six meters along with the work platform and fell into the partially frozen Hörschingerbach. The 21-year-old was able to free himself from the tractor and alerted the emergency services. The injured Altbauer was taken to the Linz accident hospital.
