Nußbach already has one foot in “Final 3”

The closer the final round of the women’s indoor fistball Bundesliga gets, the better the defending champion Union Schwingenschuh Nußbach gets going. At the start of the second half of the season, the Kremstal team celebrated two 3-1 wins in the Kirchdorf town hall with their own audience behind them. This means that the points cushion over the now fourth-placed girls from Linz Froschberg is already a relatively comfortable six points six games before the end of the regular round.

“We had to struggle with failures, but we were able to overcome them really well,” said coach Marco Salzberger after the win against pursuers Linz Urfahr. The two veterans Jana Lugerbauer and Katharina Lackinger were in poor health, so this time Jasmin Kammerhuber moved to the center in the important passing position. The Linzers, who could have drawn level with Nußbach with a win, only showed their great class in the second set. Salzberger then got his girls back on track by making changes, and Nußbach won 3:1 (7, -5, 8, 9).

With increased self-confidence, the Salzberger team didn’t let up much against Wolkersdorf/Neusiedl. With powerful service and precise passing, Nußbach was particularly superior offensively and clearly dominated the game after a balanced start. With the 3:1 (9, -9, 7, 2) win, Nußbach consolidated third place in the table, two points behind leaders Freistadt and level on points with Arnreit.

“I’m proud of our team that we got four points today. It’s a lot of fun,” said attacker Pia Neuefeind, “we’ve put ourselves in a good position now. Next week we want to be right there.” Opponents on Saturday from 11 a.m. in the Kirchdorf town hall are Seekirchen and St. Veit.
