A lot has been discussed and tried out. But in the end there was no other option, says Gerhard Zellinger, managing director of the Commercial Association (KV) in Linz. After the cancellation of the Vienna Opera Ball, the next sad news from the event sector follows today: The KV Ball planned for January 29, 2022 will not take place either.
The new Covid variant Omikron is unsettling both organizers and visitors. “Under the current circumstances, we cannot let the ball take place in the form we would like to offer our guests. In addition, we are far from taking unnecessary risks,” says operations manager Rafael Hintersteiner.
Despite this rejection, the commercial association would like to ensure that cultural and social events can continue to be possible. “The coming year will therefore be all about art and culture. It is particularly important to us to promote young musicians and offer them a stage,” says Zellinger.
