The three-year-old was being followed by her mother on a cross-country ski run when the bobsleigh veered off it for an unknown reason. The mother immediately rushed after her and pulled the three-year-old out of the water.
The 39-year-old then had to walk around 50 meters upstream in the water with her daughter in her arms to get to a suitable stream bank, the police said. There the two were rescued by the fire department with a rope.
The girl was responsive and, like her mother, was uninjured. However, she became hypothermic and was taken to Zams Hospital for further evaluation. The Trisanna stream currently has little water.
