The new Toyota GR Yaris was put through its paces for months on the race track and in the Japanese Rally Championship – and now the little racer is ready for the road. The speedster has the world’s most powerful three-cylinder turbo petrol engine on board – with an output of 206 kW/280 hp and a maximum torque of 390 Newton meters.
New is the optional eight-speed automatic transmission with extremely fast shifts (especially when downshifting). Increasing the gear ratios from six to eight enables a closer gear ratio.
As with the current GR Yaris, the new model also has the electronically controlled, permanent all-wheel drive system GR-Four on board, which optimizes grip and traction. There are also Torsen limited-slip differentials at the front and rear. This guarantees sporty handling characteristics.
The cockpit of the GR Yaris was inspired by motorsport. It is oriented maximally towards the driver and enables quicker reactions. And it includes a 12.3-inch instrument cluster.
The first cars will arrive in Austria in autumn; Order details and prices will be available in spring.
