800 talented players played exciting indoor football for three days in the town hall

Every year it is fascinating to see the enthusiasm and joy of playing that the around 800 talented people from 56 teams bring to the Steyr town hall at the Jako Youth Cup. The 1,500 spectators who loudly cheered on the young footballers from U8 to U14 over the three days were inspired by this.

“I can only congratulate Alexander Kubizek and the USV St. Ulrich for setting up such a tournament,” says Jürgen Rogl, head of the Steyr regional association training center, which has already produced talent such as Tolgahan Sahin from Micheldorf, winner of the Youth League with Salzburg , or St. Ulrich’s Aaron Sky Schwarz, a midfielder currently on loan from Rapid to Klagenfurt. “Mothers and fathers are just as enthusiastic as the young players themselves. And we keep finding new talent here.”

The effort is enormous for him and the USV organizational team, says tournament director Kubizek: “But the joy of the children and young people is our greatest and most beautiful motivation to make it even better year after year.” With Michael Novak from Teamsport Steyr and Andreas Schmidbauer from Raika Steyr, there are also football-loving sponsors who would make a tournament like this possible.

An essential element of this largest youth tournament in the region is the appreciation shown to the talent. They have their own VIP club, which even outshines the catering at the Steyr city championship, support from the physio trio Maximilian Wolfsjäger, Anna Zehetner and Lea Schönberger, a goal shooting wall and a skills competition as well as great prizes.

Mayor Markus Vogl was also impressed: “It’s a great tournament for the sports city of Steyr in which all teams can feel like winners.”
