“Alleged friends, slander and a big disappointment” – The former FPÖ boss and Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache works on his deep case in the book “Das Ibiza Attentat”. Spoke at a book presentation in downtown Vienna Strache on Thursday again of “criminal machinations” in the making of the Ibiza video. He criticized the media as well as his former party.
Vienna. His book is the “counterpart” to the essay “The Ibiza Affair” by the German journalists Bastian Obermayer and Frederik Obermaier, who were involved in the publication of the video. According to Strache if they “did not act as expected, but reduced it manipulatively” and only pursued the goal of “bringing him down.” The other side should also be heard, said Strache, up to now this “has not really happened.”
“Settlement, but not an indictment”
“This book is a personal appraisal and accounting, but not an indictment. But it is neither a justification nor an apology”, says the preface to “Das Ibiza Attentat”. Repeated this statement Strache also with the book presentation. He has written a treatise on what it means to consistently resign even if he is not to blame. Except for “an embarrassing evening”, he has nothing to blame.
Strache doesn’t just want to appeal to fans with the book: “You don’t have to be a friend of HC to read the book.” The current FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl will certainly not do that. “I can save myself that,” said the latter at a press conference held at the same time. “The bit of content that is in there was already to be read in various newspaper reports.” These passages would have reminded him more of a school essay.
It was disappointed Strache from his former party colleagues who later expelled him from the FPÖ. “That was not the sincerity that I lived myself.” He continues to “have and live” the free spirit, “I remain a highly political person.”
The former party chairman of the Freedom Party also commented on the current Corona policy: “I am not a vaccine skeptic, but a critic of the compulsory vaccination.” With his appeal for donations, he wanted to pray for legal help, “I’ll pay for my own living”, so Strache.
The ex-Vice Chancellor promised a sequel to his book, he only learned a lot after it was finished.
