The woman was traveling in the car with her three children, aged seven, ten and 13. In a curve, for reasons that are still unclear, she ended up in the middle of the road and hit a bus head-on, said Michael Jaufer from the Lienz police to the APA. The seven-year-old and the 13-year-old child were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the bus – which was empty except for the driver – remained uninjured. The deceased mother, who according to Jaufer was born in 1976, was driving a car with an Italian license plate on Drautal Straße (B 100). The two children who survived the serious accident were in “critical condition”. They were taken to hospitals in Innsbruck and Klagenfurt.

Further details about the identity of those involved in the accident were not yet known. The course of the accident was also still the subject of investigations. The accident led to a major operation and a kilometer-long traffic jam in the Drautal. Around 100 emergency services were on site. Drautal Street was closed during the clean-up work and reopened to traffic in the early evening.
