Record champions Egypt secured promotion on Monday thanks to a 2-2 (0-1) draw against Cape Verde and support from Mozambique.
The host team, on the other hand, has to worry about the round of 16. The Ivory Coast, with Salzburg striker Karim Konate starting in the 65th minute, lost the last group game against Equatorial Guinea 0-4 (0-1) and must hope to be promoted as one of the four best third-place teams in the group.

In addition to group winners Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria is also in the knockout round in Group A after a 1-0 (1-0) win over Guinea-Bissau.
