Getting young people excited about literature is one of the main goals of the Freistadt Brigitte Schwaiger Society. For this purpose, a carefully researched teaching package was put together by literary scholar Martin Vejvar. A delegation from the society handed over a hot-off-the-press version to Sandra Wiederkehr, the director of the Freistadt high school. In addition to various didactic suggestions for use in lessons, the package also contains a selection of relevant press and photo material, as well as the successful novel “How does the salt get into the sea”, which has been translated into 16 languages.
In addition, a small traveling library was financed through the Mühlviertler Kernland Leader Region: Managing director Conny Wernitznig also presented 30 copies of the Freistadt author’s best-known book as class reading to the Freistadt high school, where Brigitte Schweiger herself graduated in 1967.
The materials designed for use in upper grades are available to all schools upon request. Inquiries to: verein@brigitte-schwaiger.at
