From February, the corona vaccination will apply in Austria. As a result, people can also increasingly be immunized who, contrary to scientific knowledge, are skeptical or negative about the use of vaccinations. Aggression is increasing, doctors in the Vaccination routes are insulted. Due to safety concerns, some medical professionals are no longer serving in Vaccination routes, reported the “Ö1” lunch journal on Thursday.
You can tell that people no longer come primarily of their own free will, the aggressiveness has increased significantly, a doctor reported to the journal. For doctors, it is also uncomfortable to let people go through a medical procedure who do not want it, he said. At times the situation is threatening, said a doctor. After the vaccination, her knees would tremble in some people, she thinks, “It’s good that he’s out now”.
The interviewed doctor is in Vaccination routes are no longer performing any services, the doctor is considering whether she will continue under these conditions. The medic called for more protection for the staff in Vaccination routes. There is no security concept there, one would want a police presence, he emphasized to “Ö1”.
Vienna: Vaccination opponents tried to set fire to the vaccination site
Gerald Schöpfer, the President of the Red Cross also reported that the aggression was increasing. There are many angry citizens who vent their anger on people who cannot help it, he states. The Vienna Medical Association also confirmed higher levels of aggressiveness. In a corona demo in the federal capital, attempts were even made to set fire to a small vaccination station.
A broadcast from the Austria Press Agency showed different experiences in the individual federal states. The Red Cross Upper Austria reported that the mood in the vaccination streets had become more aggressive in the past few days. “You can feel that the climate is not always friendly,” said a spokesman. The tone is “flippant”, people are becoming more impatient. The Red Cross is not aware of the fact that doctors no longer want to inject in the vaccination streets. Nothing is known about possible attacks on the staff either.
The medical association president Peter Niedermoser had in the OÖN reported massive insults and threats against him, other doctors and the chamber in connection with the compulsory vaccination. He himself decided to sue all authors and advise the other doctors to do the same.
Mobbing in Styria too
Harald Eitner, responsible for the Styrian vaccination and test streets, said in response to an APA request that there are currently no problems in finding enough doctors for the vaccination streets, but the “phenomenon” that both the doctors and other staff molested or being verbally abused is also known in Styria. There have been no acts of violence so far, but there have also been police operations: “When 3G was introduced in the workplace, there were problems.” The rush on the test streets was very large, long queues had formed and in some cases police operations were necessary.
Security services have been in action for some time to protect the staff on the vaccination routes. They not only try to organize the queues, but also to de-escalate in tricky situations. This might also have prevented physical attacks. Eitner is not aware of the fact that doctors no longer want to work on the vaccination streets because of insults and therefore no longer make themselves available, but it cannot be ruled out.
Tyrol: So far only verbal arguments
According to the state, there have been no major incidents in the vaccination centers in Tyrol “apart from a few verbal disputes”. “The (social) development is being closely monitored by the country and the Corona task force,” said APA when asked. In close cooperation with the executive, measures have been taken to ensure safety in vaccination centers – for both employees and visitors. There are law enforcement officers on the spot, for example in cooperation with the fire brigade. In addition, vaccination centers are also patrolled by the police on a daily basis.
“In addition, voting is currently taking place in order to preventively increase security on site again by deploying additional security personnel,” said the state. In addition, training courses for employees in the vaccination centers on the subject of conflict prevention and de-escalation are carried out in order to raise their awareness.
So far, no threats in Salzburg
In Salzburg, where the vaccinations are mostly carried out by the general practitioners, nothing has yet penetrated the ordinations of aggressive vaccinees, the Salzburg Medical Association told the APA. “There may be people who rebel and scold viciously. But they get their injection and are then gone again,” said a spokesman. Nothing is known about threats against doctors, most vaccine skeptics would put up with the vaccination for better or worse in order to regain freedom or to be able to go on vacation.
Even in the vaccination streets of the Red Cross in Salzburg there has recently been quiet service, said spokeswoman Roberta Thanner. “In the event of serious incidents, my colleagues would certainly have notified the police.” And no cases were recently known in the country’s Covid crisis team that would have been worrying. “We always inform the police as a precautionary measure before special vaccination campaigns. But that has more to do with the expected volume of traffic,” said the country’s spokesman, Franz Wieser, to the APA.
Only “iniquity” in Carinthia
According to state press spokesman Gerd Kurath, “no serious incidents” have occurred in the Carinthian Impfstraßen so far. Some people are rude, the Red Cross has already reported this, but until now the security has not had to intervene. The police have been made aware of the need to be present on a daily basis.
No incidents worth mentioning in Lower Austria and Burgenland
Security employees have also been present in Lower Austria’s vaccination streets for a long time. Since the possibility of immunization without an appointment, these are mainly responsible for directing people, emphasized Stefan Spielbichler from Notruf NÖ, the state’s vaccination coordinator. So far there have not been any notable incidents in and around the vaccination streets.
Talks are currently underway in Burgenland for a safety concept in the vaccination streets, but the final results have not yet been obtained, according to the state’s coronavirus coordination staff. So far, there have been only a few incidents in which the staff has been molested.
