They are suspected of having dealt around 100 kilos of cocaine and half a ton of cannabis. During the house searches, drugs and firearms were seized, among other things, the police said. The police operation involving over 180 officers was preceded by years of investigation.
Eleven Austrian and one Croatian citizens between the ages of 26 and 66 were arrested, two of whom, according to the police, were leading members of a rocker group based in Vorarlberg. They were all arrested on the basis of European arrest warrants from the Feldkirch and Leoben public prosecutor’s offices. They are accused of having dealt drugs on a large scale in recent years.
Crypto messenger services evaluated
The suspects are said to have obtained the cocaine primarily in the Netherlands and Belgium and sold it in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Cannabis was imported from Spain, but also bred in our own plantations in Switzerland and Austria. The investigators tracked down the suspects through international evaluation of so-called crypto messenger services.
Drugs, weapons and money seized
During house searches, narcotic drugs, firearms and ammunition, large amounts of cash, several high-quality vehicles as well as data carriers and documents were seized. The eight people arrested in Vorarlberg are being taken to the Feldkirch prison by order of the public prosecutor. Extradition requests have been sent to Switzerland for three Austrians arrested in Switzerland. A suspect was arrested in Styria. According to the police, further investigations by the Bregenz State Criminal Police Office will take months.
