The expert appreciated the words of the head of the General Staff of the Russian Federation about provocations in Donbass

People sitting in decision-making centers for Donbass should think about their fate. On December 9, military expert Viktor Murakhovsky shared this opinion with Izvestia, commenting on the statement of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation about his readiness to suppress provocations in Donbass.

“Putin has repeatedly said that we will not allow a military solution to the problem of Donbass, and noted that such attempts could lead to the collapse of Ukrainian statehood. The President once noted, albeit on a slightly different occasion, that it is possible to respond to aggression not only by strikes at the carriers, but also at the decision-making centers. Probably, the people sitting in these centers should think about their fate, ”he said.

According to the expert, the forms and methods of using the armed forces in the event of possible aggression will depend on the situation.

“Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov also said bluntly – we will stop. How? Let us not limit with our inventions the forms and methods of using the armed forces in the event of possible aggression. Everything will depend on the specific situation. The Chief of the General Staff is not responsible for diplomacy. He acts within his area of responsibility, ”said Murakhovsky.

On the eve, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov said that any provocations by the Kiev authorities to resolve the situation in Donbass by force would be suppressed. At the same time, he stressed that information about the allegedly impending “invasion” of Russia into Ukraine is a lie.

A day earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin called the question of whether Moscow was going to attack Ukraine as provocative. He stressed that Russia is pursuing a peaceful foreign policy, but it has the right to ensure its security.

On December 6, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin sees clearly aggressive rhetoric of the West about Ukraine and media stuffing about the allegedly planned Russian invasion of this country. He added that tensions can be removed only by receiving a guarantee that Kiev has abandoned a possible solution to the problem of Donbass by force.

Earlier, on December 5, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin noted that the prospect of a resumption of full-scale hostilities from Kiev is real. According to him, it is still difficult to predict the further development of events on the line of contact.

Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’etat and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict.
