On Saturday, January 27th, at 7:30 p.m., the big Christmas concert of the euergio oratorio choir, which was postponed in December, will take place in the Altötting Culture and Congress Forum. The program includes one musical highlight after another.
The concert was already performed as part of the “Philharmonic Christmas Bad Reichenhall” in the royal spa house. The general music director of the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic, Daniel Spaw, was present at the Reichenhall concert and was enthusiastic about the quality of the performance. He was particularly looking forward to the piece “In terra pax” by Finzi, which is rarely heard because it places high demands on the performers. “Usually only professional choirs or large houses dare to attempt this piece,” says choir conductor André Gold. The colorful instrumentation with a celesta is also a highlight.
Typically, listeners only know this piano-like instrument from Mozart’s Magic Flute. It is a glockenspiel, but is played with keys like the piano. In Bad Reichenhall we were able to inaugurate the brand new Celesta. The instrument was used for the second time in Altötting, again played by Afrodite Stein-Stylianidou.
