The 56-year-old from the Braunau district lost control of his hybrid car on Weilhartsstrasse around 1:15 p.m. In the municipality of Überackern (Braunau am Inn district) he left the road and crashed into a tree. The Toyota’s e-Call system sounded the alarm. When the emergency services arrived, the car was already fully ablaze.

The seriously injured driver was given first aid by first aiders and officers from the Hochburg-Ach police station and then handed over to an emergency medical team. In the meantime, a first responder managed to contain the fire with a fire extinguisher. The Überackern fire department finally extinguished the fire completely. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, the police said in the evening. The driver was taken to a hospital.
