Venice is planning speed traps for boats on canals

The Transport Commission of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome has given the green light to work on installing the measuring devices in Venice. For years, the municipality of Venice has been demanding approval for speed traps to limit boat speeds.

The speed traps in Venice are to be tested for two years. “Today we are writing an important page in the matter of safety, which we as the Ministry of Transport support and pursue in all its forms,” emphasized Transport State Secretary Tullio Ferrante, according to media reports. The introduction of this control system is primarily due to the will of the citizens to make traffic in the city safer, according to the Venice municipal council.
