Last year there were 3,400 active users with at least one loan, 400 more than the previous year. They borrowed a total of more than 166,000 media (2022: 138,000). In total, the municipal facility recorded around 42,300 visitors last year, 6,000 more than in 2022.
In addition, there are the users of the knowledge bus, which are not specifically recorded in statistical terms and which visit children’s education and care facilities in Wels in the mornings. The responsible city councilor Martin Oberndorfer (VP) is pleased: “The city library has been well attended again since the end of the pandemic.”
Increased media work
Different focuses as well as increased media work are intended to further strengthen the library: For example, the house is currently presenting reading material and electronic media relating to the Cultural Capital of Bad Ischl/Salzkammergut 2024. Hiking guides, local history works, photo books and crime novels, but also DVDs and CDs allow visitors in immerse yourself in the south of the country.
As the year progresses, the city library team would like to focus on additional areas, for example magazines or audio boxes for children. Information about this will be available in a timely manner on the city of Wels’ media channels. Open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
