Under the title “Defend Democracy!” A large demonstration against right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism will take place in front of the parliament in Vienna from 6 p.m. The OÖn will report via live blog. Rallies are also planned in Innsbruck and Salzburg.
The initiators of the demo against right-wing extremism and racism in Vienna are the NGOs Fridays for Future, Black Voices and the Platform for a Humane Asylum Policy. The SPÖ and the Greens as well as numerous other organizations, including Caritas, the Catholic Action Austria, the ÖGB and the Chamber of Labor, have joined the call.

The rally is modeled on similar protests last weekend in Germany. The trigger was revelations by the research center “Correctiv” about a meeting of right-wing extremists on November 25th in Germany, which was attended by, among others, AfD politicians and the former head of the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement in Austria, Martin Sellner.
