The ski season has also started on Linz’s “local mountain”

“People want to go out to exercise in nature,” says Walter Oberneder from the Kirchschlager ski school Ralf & Walter. On the outskirts of Linz, at the heights of the Mühlviertel, the slopes in Kirchschlag are ideal for this. A piste was already open on St. Mary’s Day, much to the delight of many ski enthusiasts. “It will continue at the weekend and we are really looking forward to it,” says Oberneder. Lifts I and III are open.

There are no ski courses yet, but individual lessons are possible within the legal framework, provided that the current safety regulations are complied with. Oberneder has already opened its ski rental for spontaneous piste skiers. “In the shop we are currently offering our goods with Click & Collect”, he invites you to come to Kirchschlag. There is daily updated information on the homepage of the ski school ( www.ralfundwalter.at) or directly from the ski lift operator ( www.schilifte-kirchschlag.at).

Ski instructors for private lessons can also be booked online or by telephone (07215/3747). A service that winter sports enthusiasts from the central area are particularly happy to accept. After all, the Kirchschlager slopes have been a stepping stone to winter sports for many people from the nearby town for generations. At 900 meters above sea level, the people of Linz escape everyday life and let off steam skiing or snowboarding, depending on the mood. This is also allowed in the current lockdown. Nevertheless, it is hoped that the measures will be eased soon. Until Christmas, the lifts will initially run on weekends. 2G applies from 12 years of age.
