Deepfakes: AI-generated nude photos of Taylor Swift are making waves

One of the images was viewed 47 million times on the online service X, the former Twitter, before it was removed on Thursday. According to US media, the fake photo was online for around 17 hours.

“What happened to Taylor Swift is nothing new,” said Democratic Congresswoman Yvette Clarke of New York, who is fighting for legislation to combat deepfake nude images. “For years, women have been targeted by deepfakes without their consent. And with advances in artificial intelligence, deepfakes are becoming easier and cheaper to create,” she added.

“Uncontrollable flood”

Activists and regulators fear that easy-to-use AI tools could result in an uncontrollable flood of fake and harmful content. Deepfakes are a technology in which the faces of real people are inserted into photos or films using artificial intelligence.

Republican Congressman Tom Keane warned that AI technology is advancing faster than its regulation. “Whether the victim is Taylor Swift or another young person in our country, we must take safeguards to combat this alarming trend,” he said. The only good thing about this is that it “happened to Taylor Swift, who probably has enough power to pass a law to abolish this phenomenon. You are sick,” wrote influencer Danisha Carter on X.

X with the most pornographic content

According to analysts, US billionaire Elon Musk’s platform promised to take action against the affected content and its authors. Taylor Swift’s management initially did not comment on the incident.
