With the call “It doesn’t get any cheaper” This week the leaders of the local construction industry were recruiting house builders and renovators. Almost every company currently has the capacity to accept new orders.
An assessment that insiders from the Mühlviertel also share. For example, Eveline Grabmann – she runs a window and door company in Arbing with 50 employees: “There are currently manufacturer discounts, but these will expire in the near future.” There is a good order situation in your company in the area of renovations. There are some grants here that you can also pick up as a private customer. But private house construction is also showing the first signs of recovery. Grabman: “People still have the desire to own their own home. We are currently expecting a lot of offers. Some customers are still waiting to see how the interest rates for financing will develop when taking out the deals.”

Order situation is improving
“The most important thing for us is a good atmosphere”says Georg Kumpfmüller, one of the managing directors and owner of Dreihans GmbH with locations in Ulrichsberg, Peilstein, Lembach, Pfarrkirchen and Linz. The order situation is generally satisfactory, but varies in the different areas. “Because we have such a broad base, we are naturally more resilient when it comes to crises”he says.
In this respect, the merger of the three Mühlviertel construction companies to form Dreihans GmbH was a right step. “We actually decided to merge at a time when the economy was booming. Developments are proving us right every day.” In terms of mood, there is now a clear improvement compared to last autumn. “Of course, the situation cannot be compared with the last three years”says Kumpfmüller. There was certainly a certain overheating of the market. What could certainly be good for the mood in the construction industry is the expected turnaround in interest rates. “The renovation bonus also helps the entire industry.” This offers great incentives to tackle conversions and additions. In general, remodeling is becoming more fashionable again. But this is also due to spatial planning and, of course, affordability. One cannot complain about a lack of planning inquiries. In the fall, many builders would have waited. According to Georg Kumpfmüller, the desire to own one’s own home remains unbroken. However, the type of living is subject to certain changes. A home on a greenfield site is no longer the top priority for many people.
Many builders are also saying goodbye to the idea that everything has to be built straight away. “This was of course a big issue in times of low fixed interest rates. Now more is being built in phases again”says the builder. You also notice that customers are aware that they can save something with clever planning. “Cleverly planned 130 square meters can feel like 150 square meters”says Kumpfmüller. Complicated construction methods are also usually expensive. The most important thing is to be confident about a project and to take the time to plan it.
