The girl’s mother, a 28-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district, had led the mare in circles on a leash. Her three-year-old daughter was in the children’s saddle. The child was wearing a helmet appropriate to his age and had properly adjusted stirrups.

Slipped out of saddle

For an unknown reason, the three-year-old suddenly slipped out of the saddle and fell sideways from the horse into the sand. The girl was then hit in the thigh and head by the horse’s hoof.

Brought to hospital

The child was injured to an unspecified degree and was taken by ambulance to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck after receiving first aid.
