Karin Zorn, the new director of the city gallery, presented the focal points for the exhibition year yesterday with cultural advisor Christa Raggl-Mühlberger (FP). The two chose the shooting yard of the former Minorite monastery as the location for the presentation. The gallery, which is currently housed in the Media Culture House (MKH), will move there in the fall. For now, the studio is already housed in the Schießerhof. Adults and young people aged 14 and over can regularly work there artistically on Studio Fridays (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.).
“My motivation is to enable the greatest possible immersion in the world of fine art,” emphasized Zorn. The focus is contemporary art with a focus on painting, drawing, sculpture, graphics and architecture. “Predominantly national and international artists are exhibited, regardless of whether they are already known or yet to be discovered,” said Zorn.
Four exhibitions annually
She is planning four exhibitions a year, and the topics and artistic questions dealt with in them will also be incorporated into the ongoing studio operations. Raggl-Mühlberger emphasized that she was pleased that Karin Zorn, an artist with international experience and successful curator, had been recruited for this position. “With the new offers, such as the Studio Friday and the Gallery Summer, we want to make the city gallery more interesting for young people again,” emphasized Raggl-Mühlberger.
It starts on February 8th with the opening of the exhibition “When the Animals Left the Forest” by the painter Ina Fasching and the photographer and musician Daniel Pabst at the MKH. Markus Erich Meyer from Hamburg will be exhibiting from April 18th under the title “The drawing from the hand of the sculptor”. The gallery in the Schießerhof wing will be inaugurated in autumn with the exhibition of the Wels native Ewald Walser under the motto “Captured Time”.
The two cultural institutions MKH and Stadtgalerie will continue to work together on selected projects in the future.
