The fire brigades in the Innviertel had to cope with a complicated rescue on Monday. In steeply sloping terrain in a forest in Mörschwang, Ried district, the 62-year-old felled an ash tree around 2:30 p.m., which hit his leg when it fell and trapped him.

The 62-year-old was able to free himself and alert emergency services – an emergency doctor and paramedics treated the man. But the rescue from the steep terrain turned out to be a little more difficult.

“We were requested by the Mörschwang fire department to provide support,” says Stefan Schoibl, platoon commander of the Ried fire department, who led the high-altitude rescue operation. After consulting with the emergency doctor, the injured man was rescued from the steep terrain using a basket stretcher and handed over to the rescue team, who took him to hospital.
