The politician, who is running for the presidential election on March 23, wrote this on Facebook.

Danko broke a traffic light with his car in Bratislava on the night of January 18th. However, instead of waiting for the police to arrive, he went home. It wasn’t until the next day that he took an alcohol test, which of course came back negative. The opposition parties have been calling for his resignation ever since.

The police are also criticized for finding the 49-year-old nationalist on the night of the accident due to an oil slick, but not carrying out an immediate alcohol test. As head of the co-ruling Slovak National Party SNS, Danko is one of the most powerful men in the government coalition that has been in office since October 2023. In the past, he himself was the speaker of the parliament, making him the second highest-ranking official in the Slovak Republic. He wants to start his street sweeping duties on April 6th.
