Drivers in the greater Linz area needed good nerves and a good deal of patience on Monday afternoon: There was a kilometer-long traffic jam on the Mühlkreisautobahn after an accident occurred in the Bindermichl tunnel in the direction of the A1 around 1:30 p.m. According to Asfinag, a truck was involved in the collision, details of the accident were not yet known.
45 minutes of lost time
For the time being, only one lane was free and cars were directed past the scene of the accident. At around 2 p.m. the traffic jam stretched a good two and a half kilometers back to the Voest exit. Drivers had to allow for a loss of up to 45 minutes. There were also traffic jams on the alternative routes via Unionstrasse or the B1.

There were also disruptions in road traffic on the other side of the Danube on Monday afternoon: five vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision on the B126 at the start of the Haselgraben in the direction out of town. Three people were injured and had to be cared for by the Samaritan Association, which was deployed with four vehicles. They were taken to the UKH for further treatment. While the accident was being recorded and the clean-up work was taking place, the B126 was difficult to pass. At around 2 p.m., the ÖAMTC continued to report traffic stoppages in both directions.
