The form curve for the volleyball players at UVC McDonald’s Ried is pointing upwards. After the 3-1 home win against Klagenfurt, the Innviertel team followed up successfully in the away game against UVC Graz last weekend.
The Rieders lost their home game 3-0 in November, but achieved a surprising 3-1 win away on Saturday evening. In the first set, the Innviertel team missed two set points when the score was 24:22, and the game ultimately went to the home team from Graz with a score of 29:27.
UVC Ried was not influenced by this and won the following three sets with 25:15, 25:23 and 25:21. “This was a very important victory for the will of the entire team”said libero Stephan Langwieser after the successful away game. UVC Ried coach Manuel Leitgeb: “This was the team’s strongest performance of the season so far.” Even the setback at the end of the first set did not unsettle his team. “The players acted with enormous will and fighting spirit, that makes me proud”says Leitgeb.
Ried is hoping for a home win
After eight wins and eight defeats, the Rieders remain in sixth place in the table with 24 points. Next Saturday, February 3rd, fourth-placed Aich/Dob will be visiting the Raiffeisen Volleydome in Ried.
“It will certainly be a thrilling duel, we are looking forward to loud support from the fans”says coach Leitgeb. The game starts at 6 p.m.
