While fraternities are dancing in the commercial clubhouse on Saturday, a counter-demonstration is taking place in the city center. The demonstration is being organized for the tenth time by the “Linz Against Right” alliance. “The Burschenbundball is not just a dance event, but a networking event where right-wing extremists and German nationalists exchange ideas with top representatives from business and politics. In Germany and Austria, people are taking to the streets in support of democracy. “In Upper Austria, too, we are showing that we do not tolerate enemies of democracy,” says the alliance spokeswoman Eva Reiter.
The demonstration will take place next Saturday, February 3rd from 5:30 p.m. at the AEC-Platz in Linz and ends with a final rally in front of the exclusion zone at the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein.
Ball alternative in the city workshop
The “WurstvomHund-Ball” is taking place in the Stadtwerkstatt for the seventh time, which is seen as a counter-event to the Burschenbundball and has the motto “Don’t be afraid of diversity”. The proceeds from the ball, which was organized on a voluntary basis and has long been sold out, go to the club Refuge.
