The roll, which now has an entry in the famous Guinness Book of Records, weighs 495 tons and is four kilometers long. It is used on a winch for salvaging and dropping operations – for example of pipes – in particularly deep waters and can withstand loads of up to 1000 tons. 50 employees worked on the production of the rope for seven months at the plant of the Welser Teufelberger Group subsidiary in Trieste.
