Collection closed a negative year with a real drop of 4.7% year-on-year

The collection total gross was 51,011 million pesos in December and thus marked a real drop of 4.7%, according to the General Tax Directorate (DGI), due to a decrease in both the perception of consumption taxes and those linked to income.

In this way, at a time when it is being analyzed whether or not to raise the taxes, the collection closed the year with a new decline and thus showed a decline of 1.3% during 2023, according to data from the DGI, which also revealed that the net perception was 44,573 million pesos in December, a decline of 4.8%.

The 1.3% drop during 2023 had its correlation with successive reports, since the collection It rose in only three months (January, May and October), while it fell in the remaining 9, with December being the most significant decrease.

The impact of VAT on lower revenue

Consumption taxes, with VAT at the top, were the main cause of the lower perception. In December, 24,243 million pesos were collected in VAT, representing 47.5% of the total gross collection, but with a real fall of 2.9%.
