The prices of products for the domestic market had a variation of 1.33%

The National Statistics Institute shared the latest IPPN technical report, where a year-on-year decline is recorded.

The prices of products for the domestic market They had a monthly (and annual) variation of 1.33% in January, and registered a negative variation in the accumulated variation of the last twelve months of 0.49% in comparison with the beginning of last year.

The data comes from the latest technical bulletin prepared by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) referring to Producer Price Index of National Products (IPPN) for the current month of January, whose General Index number was 272.14 (March 2010 base=100).

In January, but 2023, the General Index number was 272.14, while the accumulated monthly (and annual) variation was negative by 0.45%; while the year-on-year figure was 3.55%.

Main influencing factors in the monthly variation of the IPPN

In addition to the quote for interbank dollar, which between December 11, 2023 and January 10 of this year fell 0.56%; The groups with the highest incidence in the IPPN were the Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry sectionwith a variation of 2.33% and an impact of 0.71 percentage points (pp) and the Manufacturing Industry sectionwhich presents a monthly variation of 0.90% and an impact of 0.62 pp

In the agricultural breakdown, the prices of products for cultivation fell by 3.78%; in those destined for animal husbandry there was an increase of 6.33%; and in forestry and wood extraction and related services of 0.22%.

In turn, the Fishing section had a negative monthly variation of 0.30% (without having an impact on the index), and that of Exploitation of Mines and Quarries another of 0.36% without presenting any incidents on the index number.
