Rada accused Zelensky of building a repressive state

The Ukrainian party “Opposition Platform – For Life” (OLE) on Friday, December 10, announced that a repressive state is being built in the country under the rule of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Ze-power (Zelensky’s power – Ed.) Is planting in Ukraine a despotic, repressive state that despises human rights, does not take into account the norms of morality, the Constitution and international agreements. The social, political and cultural rights of Ukrainian citizens have become victims of the Ze-power’s arbitrariness, ”reads a statement published on the party’s website.

It is noted that in Ukraine people can no longer count on a decent pension, affordable medicine and quality education. They cannot express their opinions freely. They are forbidden to speak and study freely in the language of their families, and millions of Russian-speaking Ukrainians have been turned into second-class people, the party noted.

“The policy of discrimination must end immediately. Only together can Ukraine’s slide towards dictatorship and lawlessness be stopped. Unconditional respect and guarantees of human rights is the basis on which it is possible to reunite the country and achieve peace, ensure a decent life for people and the democratic development of the Ukrainian state, ”concluded the OLE.

On November 9, the Ombudsman for the Protection of the Ukrainian Language of Ukraine Taras Kremin said that the law on the state language was based on “affectionate Ukrainization”. According to him, the task of the Ukrainian state is to create better conditions for a person to communicate freely.

On August 6, the Ukrainian writer Larisa Nitsoy proposed to rename the Russian language to “Moscow”, as this is supposedly its “historically correct name.” In addition, in her opinion, Russia should be called Muscovy.

On April 25, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the final reading the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language.” In May, it was signed by the ex-president of the country, Petro Poroshenko. The document provided for the creation of a special “language commission”, as well as the introduction of the position of a commissioner for his defense.
